Why the practice began
Host Routehub grew from a recurring problem in employee benefits work: an application would pass through several hands, yet nobody had reconciled the membership category, income basis and supporting evidence as one file. When the scheme asked a question, applicants often received a request for “outstanding documents” without understanding the underlying mismatch.
We established the practice in Sandton to provide a genuinely independent read. Our role is bounded but useful: establish what the file says, compare it with the available contribution rules and evidence, and explain the unresolved points without pretending to make the scheme’s decision.
The people reading your file
Naledi Mokoena, Lead Application Reviewer, has worked across employer medical scheme onboarding, contribution reconciliations and membership administration. She leads complex audits and findings calls.
Aisha Patel, Evidence Reviewer, concentrates on dependant records, prior-membership timelines and document consistency. She also performs the second-person quality check used on every full application audit.
We maintain continuing professional learning in medical scheme administration, privacy practice and the regulatory context surrounding South African medical schemes. Host Routehub is an independent review practice, not a medical scheme, broker, administrator, legal practice or clinical provider.
How we work
We ask for the narrowest evidence set that can answer the agreed question. One reviewer completes the analysis; another checks material calculations and high-priority findings before release. Reports distinguish facts shown by the records from interpretations and questions that only the scheme can answer.
Respect matters as much as accuracy. Applications can contain deeply personal information. We avoid collecting clinical details unless they are indispensable to the agreed review, use controlled transfer arrangements and speak about every applicant as a person, not a case number.
Our working principles
- Traceable: a finding points back to the document, date or contribution table that supports it.
- Independent: we do not earn commission from plan choices or scheme acceptance.
- Proportionate: a focused calculation query should not become an unnecessarily broad engagement.
- Plain-spoken: uncertainty is labelled, and next actions are written for the person who must carry them out.
